A Canadian Basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA) being a point guard is Stephen John Nash, who is commonly known as “Steve Nash”.
Currently, he is playing for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association. Steve Nash was born in February 7, 1974 in Johannesburg at South Africa.
Steve Nash is not only interested in basketball playing but is also into other sports. In his school times, initially he used to play soccer and basketball with his younger brother. At that time, there were not any signs of basketball playing in his life.
When he has touched his teens in life, he has started playing basketball then. Interestingly, when Steve Nash was in grade eight, he has shared his feelings with his mother that a day will come in life when he will play with the NBA (National Basketball Association).
Steve Nash has joined Mount Douglas Secondary School. Since his grades were badly affected thus they have shifted him to a boarding School; Michaels University School. He has started playing basketball too.
At that time, he has averaged 21.3 points per game, 11.2 assists per game and 9.1 rebounds per game. It was 1992 when Steve Nash has steered his players to qualify in the British Columbia AAA Championship. His team has won the game and he was awarded with the title “Province’s Player of the Year”.
Steve Nash got admission in the Santa Clara University and has done bachelors in Sociology. He has amazed everyone with his enthralling performances. His coach Dick Davey has always been impressed by his moves and passionate behavior for basketball. He used to comment that “He is the worst defensive player”, and Santa Clara has awarded him with the scholarship also in 1992-93 season.
He has participated in many of the tournaments of basketball and has created a shining record at that time. Then, in 1996, he was retired from Santa Clara University team and was then selected by the NBA.
It came the time when Nash was drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the 1999 NBA Draft. Steve Nash was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. He has spent two years there from 1996-98 and then drafted to the Dallas Mavericks in 1998-2004.
After 2004, he has rejoined Phoenix Suns. Steve Nash has also played soccer in his life and has always expressed that if he is given a chance to adopt soccer professionally, he would have not missed that option.
Steve Nash has been honored with several titles in his professional life. In the season 2002-03, he was twice selected as All NBA Third Team. In 2002, 2005 and 2006; he has been awarded with the Lionel Conacher Award. In 2004, Steve has also won Lou Marsh Trophy. From the season 2002 to the year 2003, and then from 2005 to the 2008 season and in 2010; he was seven times selected as NBA All-Star.
In 2005-2006 season; Steve Nash was twice selected as the Most Valuable Player. In 2005 and in the 2010; Steve Nash has won Skills Challenge Champion title. He has also been awarded with the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award in 2007. In the year 2008 and in 2010, Steve Nash was honored with the All NBA Second Team in the National Basketball Association.
