In his collegiate career he was second in the Big 10 conference assists to Magic Johnson, a sophomore that time. At a young age of 16 he became a part of the Senior men’s national team , he was the youngest player that was asked to join the senior team in Canada.
He was the first Canadian to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft however he was considered a disappointment by some. He suffered from knee problems which hinders him to play better in fact he had undergone a total of 14 knee operations. Some of his playing records are: he played 28 games as a rookie with the sixers, he averages 7 minutes a game,1.5 points, 1 assist, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.7 turnovers.
But is he really a bad player? Leo Rautins as a player is not considered a loser at all, he had accomplishments too. He is a talented power forward, he has a strong ball handling skills. He could also play the point position, rebound and he could even score inside the perimeter.
He was infact a solid free throw shooter. Rautins was one of the best players from Canada he was able to professionally play in France, Spain and Italy where he was idolized by many and considered as an All-Star. Because of his achievements and contributions to bring pride for the country he became a member of the Canada Ontario Basketball Hall of Fame. He was able to play for three decades.
