Lebron James High School Highlights

Lebron James spent his high school playing days at St. Vincent–St.

Mary High School in Akron, Ohio where he became a starter during his freshman year for the Fighting Irish. With the NBA season fast approaching and everyone so excited about Lebron James and his Miami Heat cohorts taken on the rest of the NBA it is time for some sweet basketball and a little bit of a walk down Memory Lane for the Lebron James fanatics like us!

NBA Bound

Lebron James averaged 21 points and 6.2 rebounds, and was the leader of the team that showcased a fantastic 23–1 record, on their way to the Division III state title. Coach Keith Dambrot, now head coach at the University of Akron, was the head coach at St. Vincent–St.

Mary while James was a high school baller there. Coach Dambrot started working with Lebron James doing $1 clinics at a local recreation center and that was the start of the association of Lebron James and money. That was just the start of Lebron James and his moneymaking potential and now he is listed as the highest-paid professional basketball player ever in the history of the National Basketball Association.

Please think about that for a moment and think back to the great players such as Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that in no way shape or form could financially hold a candle to the amount of money that King James makes for a variety of reasons.

 

It has nothing do with the pure talent of the above listed players as in the same time and place and in the same position that Lebron James had found himself, these players definitely would be the same and the money would be right there as well.

Heart-Break Hotel

As we continue to wade through the myriad of great Lebron James high school highlights one of the biggest occurred in his senior year when he was battling for the State Championships of Ohio. With 2 seconds on the clock Lebron James was staring at the basket and took off in a driving slam that many said sealed the deal for his NBA career.

That winning slam gave Lebron James more than just a pass into the NBA and a bypass for the college game as well as it also gave the state of Ohio a hero and one that would eventually end up breaking their hearts in 2010.

Gatorade Award

The Lebron James high school highlights included this marvelous player earning Mr. Basketball of Ohio in his junior year and also a spot on the All-USA First-Team and was named the 2001-2002 Boys Basketball Gatorade NationalPlayer of the Year.

Back to the Future

Revolving back to his senior year, Lebron James averaged 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.8 steals. He led the team to a 26–1 record and aDivision III State Title for the second straight season and so applied his place in the ranks of the greatest high school players ever to bounce a ball in the state of Ohio. Adding to these remarkable achievements Lebron James was named King James as he entered the ranks of the NBA, a deserved name to say the very least.

Big Time in Miami
