China is very well known because of their business industry. Almost all of the Chinese are business -minded, they are into trading and bartering goods and other products to other country.
As much as China is known for their business stuffs they are as well known in the field of basketball. Basketball is also their passion, as a matter of fact they won many championship titles in FIBA Asia Championship and they also are participative in the FIBA World Championship.
Chinese also had invaded NBA, though few Chinese are also known for their skills in playing basketball. To know some of them here are the China’s Famous Basketball Players:
Yao Ming
Yao Ming is not just known for his basketball ability but also because of his height. He stands 7 ft. 6 inches tall. He was in fact the tallest player in NBA. He was picked by Houston Rockets in the 2002 NBA Draft.
He has also been selected to start for the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star Game in his first seven seasons because of that has been named to the All-NBA Team five times. His popularity gone bigger, his fans gone wilder in fact in his rookie year in NBA it was considered The Year of the Yao (the title of a documentary film).
Unfortunately he missed some significant time in the season because of some injuries. Yao Ming is considered one of China’s famous basketball players he even had a lot of sponsorships in several major companies. He was also considered the richest man in China for six years.
Yi Jianlian
Yi Jianlian is considered as one of China’s famous basketball players because he was able to invade NBA. He was slected by Milwaukee Bucks in the 2007 NBA Draft.
He is a player for Washington Wizards as well. He has played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association where he won the Rookie of the year award.
He also played with the Chinese National Basketball team in the 2004 Summer Olympics and 2006 FIBA World Championships.Yi Jianlian became more famous when he was accused that he had falsified his age so that he could play longer in junior competitions his officially listed birth is on October 27, 1987 and rumors are rising, up to now he remained silent about it.
Wang Zhizhi
Wang Zhizhi is considered as one of China’s Famous basketball Players because he was the first Chinese who has entered in the NBA league. In summer 1999 the good news was spread in the entire Chinese community.
The basketball officials and reporters in China were in shocked and surprised when Dallas Mavericks selected Wang. He was the 36th pick in the second round of the NBA draft. Dallas Mavericks were the only NBA team getting hold of Wang’s official documents with an authentic date of birth with the help of an agent named Xia Song who was in Dallas during the draft night.
Due to unpreparedness and confusion they did not allow Wang to leave for the US immediately. After further meetings and negotiations Wang Zhizhi was finally let go by his Army club and the Chinese basketball officials for him to be able to pursue his career.
