Every once in a while, I go to youtube.com to see some AND1 clips and see if I can find some cool, smooth, fancy moves that blow the crowd away.
These are four moves that you can try to do. Some of them, you probably know. Some of them you don’t. Anyways, here they are:
The boomerang
Definitely, don’t try to do this if you’re in a serious game. This is just to get attention, to be, ahem, a big show off let’s say.
Okay, what you do is, as you are somewhere around the free throw line, swing the ball hard towards the board. If you hit it right, the ball should return to you just like a boomerang.
Spinning ball
As you dribble, put the ball under your shirt and hit it hard so that it goes around you, behind your back and it hits the ground just in front of you so that you can keep on dribbling.
Part of why the AND1 players have good shooting skills is that they dribble a lot.
When they dribble they feel the ball. I know after a lot of dribbling I usually make the shots I take.
For this little move, I think if I try to explain it, you might not get it right.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and a video is worth a thousand pictures so why not just give you the video. This particular move is when the scroll bar of the video is right under the “stop button”.
You need fast reflexes for this one
The defender is 2-3 feet away from you. Dribble a bit and put the ball in front of you. Not too much though but just enough so that he thinks he can steal it from you.
In the very moment when he does that move (when he tries to steal your ball) you should be one step ahead and grab it and just blow past him easily. Because he is off balance. You’ve probably seen this AND1 move but if you haven’t, read that again and you’ll understand it.
