The Duke Men’s Basketball Team was ranked 5th in the NCAA Division 1 standings released on March 7th.
The Blue Devils enter the ACC Tournament quarterfinals with an overall record of 28-4 and a conference record of 13-3. Duke faced Maryland in the quarterfinals game and will be advancing to the semifinals after an 87-71 win.
Duke’s Season
The Blue Devil’s have had a great run but have been plagued by one small, random thing: toe injuries. The second Blue Devil this season to go down with a toe injury was senior Nolan Smith. Smith was injured in the last eight minutes of the Maryland game.
Freshman Kyrie Irving has been out for the past three months for a similar toe injury. Since these two athletes were relied on heavily, it has caused Sophomore Seth Curry to step up and take charge of the team.
He has had to learn several different positions throughout the season, depending on team needs, and is turning into an all-around player. Besides injuries, the Blue Devils were still able to pull out a quarterfinals win. Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski leads the Blue Devils, but looks to Nolan Smith, Kyle Singler, and Seth Curry for on court perfection.
About The Team
