Many aspiring basketball players are hoping to make a good entry in the National Basketball Association or NBA.
The NBA is the most popular basketball association in the history which propelled basketball to grow as the most famous sport in the world. Led by the iconic dream team composed of the very popular players such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and other NBA superstars, NBA had captures the world by storm. This is the reason why many other basketball players want to make way into the NBA.
Not known to all men, there are also Irish Basketball players who had already made their way in the NBA arena. And yes, before they were able to get there formal entry to the NBA, these Irish players has gone through crucial experience as similar to like passing through the eye of a needle.
The first Irish basketball player in the NBA was Patrick John Burke. This man from Dublin, Ireland moved to USA with his parents when he was 3 years old. He studied and grew up in the USA and was able to learn his Basketball skills.
He was drafted in the year 2002 by the Orlando Magic he then played for the same team. He had a total of 62 games for the Orlando Magic. His averages are the following: 4.3 pints and 2.3 rebounds.
Burke was not able to play in the NBA in the 2003-2004 seasons as well as the 2004-2005 NBA seasons. When he finally came back as an NBA player he played for the Phoenix Suns for two seasons. He also went in training with the Golden State Warriors in the Year 2007. His basketball career however did not only revolve in the NBA. He has also played for the Ireland Basketball team and some other teams in European Countries.
The next Irish NBA player is no other than Martin “Marty” Mc Bride Conlon. Marty’s basketball skills started to surface when he joined in the Archbishop Stepinac High School at White Plains, New York. He was discovered to have a potential and was built up to join in the Ireland National Basketball Team. His career in the Irish Men’s Basketball Association started from 1992 up to the year 2000.
He played very well while he was with the team. Before he made his way to the IBA, his fame started when at his college freshman year while playing for the Providence College, scouts have seen his playing tactics. After the league, the team was included in the Final Top four teams. This was his career’s stepping stone.
He was invited to play in the NBA. And during his career, he has played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics. These teams have seen his potential that is why they have tried to acquire him from one team after another.
His career was at its apex when he was with the Milwaukee Team, however, because of his slow progress, his career started to rebound. After some time, he had made his final sign for the team of Los Angeles Clippers, this was his last contract.
