Rudy Gay Bio

Rudy Carlton Gay, Jr. is an American professional basketball player and born on August 17, 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Gay who is 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m), is currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. He waers No.22 and plays at forward position, his Listed weight is 230 lb (104 kg.) before turning pro Gay played collegiately at the University of Connecticut.

Gay has five brother and sisters. at 12 years, he began playing competitive recreational basketball in the Turner Station community of Baltimore County, Maryland. It was one of the toughest youth basketball leagues in the area. Gay began playing for the nationally-known Cecil-Kirk AAU program, At the age of 14.

Gay was known for his high-flying dunks and versatility throughout his college career. He was a co-winner of the 2005 Big East Conference Freshman of the Year award. The Sporting News nominated Gay as the National Freshman of the Year. Gay played for the USA’s Men’s Under-21 World Championship Team in the summer of 2005, and posted one double-double while averaging 10.5 points a game and 5.5 rebounds.

Gay was nominated as Big East Preseason player of the year, before his sophomore season began. At the conclusion of season, Gay was one of four division one college players nominated for the Naismith College Player of the Year Award. he was also selected to the Big East’s First Team. In 2005–2006 season, he made his career high 28 points.

In 2007 season Gay averaged 10.8 points per game to help the Grizzlies win 22 games. During his second season In 2007–2008, he averaged 20.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game and in same period was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, and became the team’s leading scorer.
