Carmelo Anthony is a player of Denver Nuggets in NBA (National Basketball Association). He has joined the field of Basketball in 2003 and is still playing with only Denver Nuggets so far. Interestingly, he is nicknamed as “Melo”. He is married to La La and has one kid of 4 years of age.
His professional career is marked with two gold medals and three bronze medals. He is also active n charity work. Anthony has also performed in one of the music video of the song “Be” in 2005 for the Common.
Carmelo Anthony was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 29, 1984. He was named after his father who left him when Anthony was only three years old. His father died of liver disease leaving behind four kids and a widow wife Mary.
Mary raised her kids being a housekeeper and her elder children helped her in looking after their younger brother; Carmelo Anthony. They all used to play basketball since childhood. Initially, Carmelo was not an expert and skillful player but he did a lot of hard work in polishing his skills and then emerged as a professional player.
Carmelo has joined Towson Catholic High School and soon this news spread in his vicinity that Carmelo Anthony plays Basketball amazingly. He was named The Baltimore Sun’s player of the year in 2001. He was also honored Baltimore Catholic League player of the year at the same time. The year 2002-03 was times of his college career where he played a season at Syracuse University.
There, he averaged 22.1 points and 10.0 rebounds. Anthony led his team to win against University of Texas and University of Kansas. Because of his performances in these matches, Anthony was honored with the Most Outstanding Player Award. At that time, he was the best basketball player in college and there was not even a single competent against him. Then, in 2003 NBA Draft has selected him for the Denver Nuggets.
He has won laurels in every season of his career from 2003 to present. In his Rookie season, Anthony started by scoring 12 points and 30 in a match and then reached by scoring even 41 points. He was the third youngest player to score 1000 points in an NBA history.
Then, he stood second in the voting of NBA Rookie of the Year. In 2004-05 seasons, he made 2000 career points and in a match of 2004 against Miami Heat, Anthony was MVP of the game. He has flourished the career of Nuggets in basketball such that Nuggets had established their season record by six games and Western Conference has numbered them at seventh among the competitive teams.
In the tenure 2005-06, Anthony made the lead possible in Northwest Division for the Nuggets and it was also a reality for the first time in his career. He won NCAA Men’s Division 1 Basketball Championship in 2003.
In the year 2006, 2007 and 2009; Anthony was honored as All NBA Third Team. 2010 marked his career as the All- NBA Second Team. He was awarded as the NBA All Star in the years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
