Blake Griffin is a skilled basketball player who represents the Los Angeles Clippers. His elder brother, Taylor Griffin is also a basketball player who plays for Begacom Liege in Belgium.
Blake Griffin was interested in playing sports from his school days. He played at Oklahoma Christian School in the basketball team. He used to play with his brother in a school team under the coaching of their father. Blake Griffin has played in a team together with his brother in the year 2003-04 and 2004-05 and they had won two state high school basketball championships.
When he played as Junior, he averaged 21.7pints, 12.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists and earned a berth in class 2A championship. There, he has won against Washington High School. He was named The Oklahoman Player of the year.
Then, he has played under the coaching of Jeff Capel for the Oklahoma Sooners. Jeff Capel was impressed by the action and enthusiasm of Blake Griffin that he put while playing Basketball. Then in his senior year, he averaged 26.8 points, 15.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists and 2.9 blocks per game.
At that time, he was leading his team to a 26-3 record. Then, on March 10, 2007 he played in the final of state title game against Pawnee High School. Again, he was named Class 2A state Tournament MVP in the consecutive year.
In his college days, he was recruited to play for University of Oklahoma Sooners. He played a lot in his college days maintaining records with the injuries too. Then in 2009, Blake Griffin was selected by the NBA Draft to play for Los Angeles Clippers.
Then he injured his knee cap and was unable to play in 2009-10 season when it was confirmed a stress fracture in his left knee. Though he has missed playing in that season yet he was considered a Rookie during 2010-11 Season and named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for November, December and January. Then, he played against Indiana Pacers and set a record by setting 47 points and 14 rebounds.
He has awarded by many titles and honors in his career. The year 2009 was a shining one in his career where he won Big 12 Player of the Year, John R. Wooden Award, Naismith College Player of the Year, AP National Player of the Year, Oscar Robertson Trophy and Adolph Rupp Trophy.
In 2011, he was honored by the title NBA All-Star .Blake is that Rookie player who has maintained his position which no other player has in his career from the past 40 years. He is also a social activist where he works as a fundraiser known as Dunking for Dollars.
He contributes $100 to fight against childhood obesity for every dunk that he makes.
