These are coach quotes I’ve taken out of basketball movies (but all true stories) that I’d like to share with you..

Player # 1: “Yeah. Let’s win this one for all the small schools that never had a chance to get here” Player # 2: “I wanna win for my dad” Player # 3: “Let’s win for Coach, who got us here.”

“Let’s be real clear about we’re after here. All right? Team, team, team. Five players on the floor function as one single unit”. Ok? No one more important than the other.”
“Glory Road”
Coach Don Haskins in “Glory Road” when he challenged the player he was coaching that he can’t get past him with those moves..
“You expect me to react to all that head-shake and body gyration? It’s activity without accomplishment. You got the ball in front of you. You ain’t going anywhere without it.
Try this. It’s called a rocker step. You ready? Get in your stance. OK? The difference between me and you is I got the ball protected. It looks like I’m starting to dribble, so you react, and when you do, cross over, dribble right by you.”
The same coach, same movie..
“You spilled a lot of sweat on this floor, and it’s gonna pay off. Now, I know it seems I’ve been hard on you for no reason. But I’ve been tough because I know how good you can be.
People outside this gym, they don’t think we got a chance this season, playing with players none of the big schools wanted. But those people don’t know you. I do.”
“Coach Carter”
Coach Ken Carter from the movie “Coach Carter” introducing himself in the gym..
“Because if there’s one thing I know, it is this. The losing stops now. Starting today, you will play like winners, act like winners… and, most importantly, you will be winners.
If you listen and learn, you will win basketball games. And, gentlemen, winning in here… is the key to winning out there.”
After complaining they work only on defence, Coach Carter introduces his “sister”..
“Today’s flavour: Offence. I have a sister. Her name is Linda. Linda is smart, she’s political. Well, actually, she’s radical. Linda’s got a big Afro. Linda is our pick-and-roll offense.”
