The Washington Mystics have a dream job. They play night after night in front of adoring fans and supporters and get paid to do it.
Many opportunities to build relationships with fans can come out of this experience and the team loves to do that. The Mystics like to do things for their fans and show them how much they appreciate their support. Without the fans, which fill the arena and buy the merchandise, the team would cease to exist.
The Verizon Center
The Washington Mystics get to play at the Verizon Center and call it home. The same company who owns the Mystics, Wizards, and Capitals owns the Verizon Center.
This arena is a 20,000 seat, multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue. Located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Chinatown in downtown Washington D.C., the Verizon Center is No. 9 in the highest grossing venues as listed by Billboard Magazine. Some of the artists that have performed here are U2, Justin Timberlake, Barbra Streisand, Bon Jovi, Prince, Beyonce, Keith Urban, and The Wiggles.
Some of the special amenities that the Verizon Center can boast of are 106 luxury suites, a high-definition center scoreboard, indoor basketball practice area, 10 dressing rooms, a variety of concession stands and food, private owner’s club for VIP owner’s, private Acela Club restaurant for club seat and suite holders, Coaches Club for Gold VIP season-ticket holders, The Player’s Club, and other clubhouses and restaurants.
The Fans
The fans of the Mystics have continued to support the team, even as they have had inconsistent results season after season. To try and promote a bigger fan base and to thank the current supporters, often times there are group ticket sales and designated nights that have inexpensive tickets so anyone can enjoy a game.
There are also group ticketing for groups over 15 people. This package includes savings on tickets, in-game recognitions, group seating, fundraising opportunities, etc and is perfect for any group or work outing.
There is also the School Day Game where children will receive a coloring workbook, exhibits from the Library of Congress, NASA, National Portrait Gallery, Washington Post and the Crime and Punishment Museum, discounted food vouchers, and students can also bring their own food. These events and many more allow the team to reach out to all fans and say thank you for their continued support.
