Humboldt State University – The Lumberjacks – 2010-2011

The Humboldt State University Men’s Basketball Team was ranked 6th in the NCAA Division II standings posted on March 8th.

The Lumberjacks finished their season with an overall record of 26-4. Humboldt State faced Alaska Anchorage in the first round of the NCAA West Region Championships and fell 76-70.

The Lumberjacks’ Season

The Jacks had a spectacular season that fell short in the first round of the NCAA West Region Tournament. In a close match with Alaska Anchorage, the Jacks were unable to pull out the win and lost 76-70. Free throws and 3-pointers played a huge part in this game. Alaska was able to convert 29 of 34 attempts at the free throw line for 85% accuracy, while Humboldt converted 24 of 30 attempts for 80% accuracy.

Alaska was also 5 for 12 from 3-point range, while Humboldt was a disappointing 4 for 26. Humboldt State was also unable to answer Alaska’s runs in the second half and went scoreless for the first five minutes.

Despite the loss, Humboldt State still has much to celebrate as they won 26 games this season and became the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season champions. Head Coach Steve Kinder leads the Jacks but looks to Brian Morris and Randy Hunter to win games.
